As part of the prep, to hopefully get it on the road this year, ordered one of DPC's turbo oil feed hoses with filter. Top service as always. Just need to get on with sorting out / deciding on which decent spec GT25 hybrid to go with in the next couple of months.

Nothing happened with the cars, only bought some RS parts.
It included new, mint and used parts. Too much to list really.
New set of RS wheels, new genuine exhaust, new steering rack to mention a few parts.

Spent the weekend looking at turbo options - realised how long it's been since i priced up certain parts for the FRS when i saw the outright cost of some of the hybrid units - ouch.
After a bit of investigation have also found that the fuel system's going to need a decent overhaul to get it back on the road this year. It looks like the previous 9 odd years of sitting in the garage, pre getting it back on the road in 2019, hasn't done the tank much good. Looks like a bit of emulsifaction in there from the petrol sitting stagnating and the ethanol going off causing it to get bit manky. So my betting is the tank could probably do with a good internal clean (if possible) or i guess fit a new one. Evidence of letting it sit so long with the ethanol eating into things also noticeable with hoses connecting to the current fuel pump looking pretty degraded / ragged / eaten in to - put is this way, the same much older fuel hoses on my 205 GTI are now in far better condition than the ones on the FRS.
So new fuel pump needs to be added to the list, alongside the smaller injectors i was going to have to source anyway as part of moving to a smaller turbo as the 750cc ones that have been on there since 2007 are going to be too big flow wise / overkill for going back to a 25 hybrid and less power.

Time for the thread to be bumped for '23.
Dropped my recently aquired GT25 turbo down to Sabre this afternoon so they're now sorting out getting it rebuilt to their current top spec, including actuator, spun housing, etc.
Hopefully pick that up in a couple of weeks and once done can look at starting to figure out getting it to SCC to get the physical build up sorted, including things like fuel pump, cleaning the fuel tank of gunge, new fuel hoses, customising the intercooler pipework, etc, etc.
Also discovered today that the Autronic ECU is more than likely locked (restricting access to the mapping side of things) so currently going to have to think about whether to start afresh with a new, current, ecu (making use of the existing customised for Autronic loom), or potentially (if it can be worked with the Ian Howell inlet and dependent on condition of the how the o.e loom was spliced to suit the Autronic back in the day) return it to the OE ecu and get Sabre to map it accordingly.
Fun.

Picked the rebuilt turbo up from Sabre earlier today. With that done, just need to sort out getting the turbo swap / build up, etc, sorted at some point in the next couple of months with SCC. TBH so long as it starts / runs so that it can be moved / loaded freely then i'll be happy - i can worry about the ECU / mapping and getting it fully running & road legal later.

I'd like to but i don't think i should commit tbh incase things don't go to plan. That's what happened in '07 when i thought it would be ready after getting the Autronic fitted and you ended up with a bright yellow Exige parked at the back of the stand - eek - if the same happened this year it would an MG ZR or a 205 GTI, but at least this time round it would be a shade of blue :hehe:

Front suspension stripped/cleaned/greased/put back together.
Rear suspension got the same treatment.
Bushes cleaned and greased.
Treatment given for anywhere it looks like rust might take over.
New metal pipes fabricated for rear brakes.
New brake hoses for rear.
New front discs and pads fitted.
Exhaust hanger repaired.
Heat shield repaired.
Booked in for a couple of weeks time for M.O.T. fit new anti roll bar mounts and get the towing eye sorted as it has more empty space than metal at the moment :(
Maybe one day it will surprise me on the mechanical side and I will be able to get onto the cosmetic side of things I need to do...
I think about selling it so it can go to someone that finds it more affordable, but then I drive it and forget I even thought about it :D
