Hi all, My Ford Key does not work, ie lock-unlock- open boot. does this just mean i need a new internal circuit board? and does this have to be from Ford? also how does this reprogramme ( with Ford? ) My key obviously reads within the ignition else ide thought my car would not start ( Immobiliser ) Key battery has been changed.

Have you changed the battery?
The PATS immobiliser is coded separately from the remote operation so if the battery goes it will still start the car, it works via a transponder.
Try changing the battery, if that doesn't work you may need to recode the remote with the new battery, you do this by inserting the key into the ignition, turning to and from position 2/3 multiple times until a bong is heard, then press a button on the remote to complete, it should confirm with another bong. The remote operation should then work.

Ive put new battery and also done the ignition process few weeks ago and didnt work, i could try again, my key starts the car fine its the buttons that dont work, locking / unlocking etc Nick :-(Originally posted by Nick View PostHave you changed the battery?

With my old 1.8 focus I had a problem like this in the winter where the buttons wouldn't work and I found out it was a central locking motor that was sticking. It was fine in the warmer months and it wouldn't stick but come winter it would stick and the buttons wouldn't work. It may be worth checking.
