Carbon header tank cover turned up with the post today - even though Royal Mail's own site said they were still processing it through customs
Hopefully get it on the car tomorrow or over the weekend. Would have done it today but decided it wasn't the best idea to continue after i cracked my head on the bonnet catch (I forgot that the FRS bonnet doesn't open as much or as high as i'm used to when working on my 205 GTI). Either way, that's going to hurt for a while

Carbon header tank cover fitted - good old Velcro to the rescue (just like on the old AS shiny cover) after the double sided tape i used first time round refused to hold it in place with the heat in the engine bay.
Also decided to fit the CPE slam panel, that i bought off a user on the RSOC forum many years ago, to replace the original gloss black painted panel that's been on the car since '07.
I think i've got a better split of carbon, shiny & natural metal colours under the bonnet now, although i'm also tempted to replace the current shiny wing rail covers with some carbon ones instead.
A couple of, not particularly great, photos from the gloomy garage earlier on - hopefully get some better pictures next time it leaves the garage:

Finally had a free day with decent weather so took it for a 4 hour long run today.
Good point - forgot how good the Primary Designs exhaust sounds on boost through the Hindhead tunnel
Bad point 1 - forgot how quickly my car can empty itself of 1/2 tank of Super Unleaded
Although it was always fairly thirsty back in the old days i think part of that is also related to the fact the mapping needs checking / adjusting.
Bad point 2 - 20 minutes from home the car developed a reasonable misfire on boost
Best case either a dodgy lead or coilpack, as both of those date back to '06 when i first got the car, although i did notice some blue smoke on startup today so worst case will be having to look at various engine / turbo related seals when it goes back to SCC next year.
Oh well - guess i can always drive it off boost and treat it as a N/A car - used to enough years of that driving the 205 GTI
