  • Changing the colour of the rear brake calipers

So, I decided I wanted to have a go at changing the colour of my rear brake calipers from Silver to Gold.
I also wanted to get rid of the awful looking Goodrich rear brake hoses.
Lucky enough I managed to be able to purchase the 4 rear original Ford brake hoses.
I also purchased the two steel brake pipes that go between the flexys, due to the originals being seized solid.

Once all the parts were aquired, calipers and carriers were removed. Thoroughly cleaned then primed ready for colour.

Calipers now in colour. I found it very difficult to match an exacting colour. Bear in mind I do as much work as I possibly can from my garage and sheds.
The car is also a driver, so I was also aware of not wanting the colour to fade too fast unlike the factory colours.
Pictures are now starting to show calipers now fitted to my car, all brake hoses and pipes fitted. Brakes bled.

Now time for some cleaning and detailing.

      Now art, the finished end.
I personally am very happy with how this little project turned out. I think the calipers painted Gold behind the wheels look good.
Well, this was a mammoth effort for me to get this lot on here, so I now need to lay down in a dark room to recover.

      Hope you all enjoy.

Do you have the finis codes for the flexi hoses and brake pipes by any chance?

              Thanks. Lee.

Thank you for the kind words Lee.

I do like to try and get it right, although I don't always succeed.

                - Rear Flexible Hoses 195mm long 1 064 257 x 2
                - Rear Flexible Hoses from Caliper 160mm long 1 068 975 x 2

Rear steel pipes I purchased from Marks Auto Parts on the internet. For advice, these hoses are genuine Ford and not cheap. It also took a while to find them.

Good luck mate, let me know how you get on.

No problem at all buddy. Always pleased to help.
Marks auto parts has just about every brake pipe available.
As a note, those rear pipes are exactly the same as ST170s

Garry T Awesome work! looks gorgeous.
Just ordered the Flex Hoses from Ford. Thanks to your help which the parts numbers.

Unfortunately Marks Auto Parts will not ship to Germany. So I have to find a way to get the brake lines. Missing drive the car :-(
