  • Spare wheel or no spare wheel

    So,what is everyones chosen route.
Just keep the standard issue polystyrene space filler with bottle of gunge and compressor.
Carry a full size spare wheel in the boot.
Remove the polystyrene space filler and get a space saver wheel from another model to get you out of trouble.
or just leave standard, and if you get a puncture, game over, call out the breakdown service.

Got both in my boot even though the car hasn't been on the road since end of 2016.
Spare wheel is from a ST170.
If front tyre goes I would have to take a rear off and put on front and space saver on rear, but better than getting stuck.
I now carry both in my daily Focus after getting stuck with a blown tyre one night.

Always carry a spare wheel either full size or ST170 spare

ST170 space saver for me, already got me out of trouble once before.
I personally make sure i have a spare in one way or another for whatever vehicle i have.
Probably one of the small minority that checks its the correct pressure every few months too 🤣

            No space saver, nothing.
Last year I had my first flat tire in 25yrs, I went from petrol station to petrol station until I found a tire specialist to replace the tire (a brand new Michelin Cup2 ).

I would say for long journeys then carry a spare original OZ wheel. Risky with no spare and the space saver is kind of a make-do but could cause problems/stress and danger switching wheels over as mentioned above.

I now carry a spare wheel around for my van after being caught out with a serious puncture and no wheel.

As I use my RS mostly for meetings abroad, I always carry a full size spare in the boot. Mind you it is not an OZ 18” it is a std focus 15” wheel that fits nice in the wheel well in the boot under the carpet (got a foam raiser as per std focus too).
Never had to use it, but if the worst happens it gets me home without worries, even doing 70-80 mpg on motorway (maybe even illegal speeds 🤔😂)
only one downside is if I have a front tire punctured or blown I need to change two wheels as the spare only fits at the rear, but anything better then being stuck somewhere far away 😎
TBH I always have a spare in all my cars for that reason. If I have a problem I can change a wheel in about max 10 mins. If I need to wait for recovery I might be stuck for several hours, and my patience cannot handle that much 😂😳

Both. I have a single full size spare wheel in a wheel bag in my boot.

The good news is that with a spare wheel you stand more chance of knowing which way you're going, hopefully homeward! 🤣
