  • What cambelt kit would you use?

I have on my mind the obvious choice the Gates kit but I believe in the INA tensioner this was built for COSWORTH(I owned quite a few). I believe the INA tensioner is the best to fit. However I don't think the Gates kit comes with the INA tensioner . I also see that INA also make cambelt kits. So I am in a bit of a dilemma on what to do now. I suppose I could purchase a Gates kit and then purchase an INA tensioner separately? What have you used on your cars?
    I hope you can help.

    Thanks.

I personally think you are overthinking this a bit.
There are several great quality timing belt kits available for this engine.
If it puts your mind at ease and INA make one, by all means fit their tensioner but you won't be gaining anything over a Gates one imo.

I was just overrun with the hype with the Cosworth engine, it was always recommended by all including enthusiasts, engine builders and tuners. I know it's a zetec and totally different set up but I just want to know what owners thoughts are here really.

        Thanks. Lee.

Any decent aftermarket brand will be just fine, Gates, continental, INA none of these will burn their fingers on inferior quality items.
personally i went for OEM ford, but only as i get a nice discount so price is near the same as an aftermarket kit 😎

Chris, did you buy the tensioner from Ford too? I've tried to order it last year and they said no longer available.

INA are great quality theres no disputing it. I would just say there isnt much or even any gain by going out of your way to have their tensioner when another great quality one might be available as part of the kit.

I can recommend Gates, INA for tensioner and Continental with complete kit. Only Fates and Conti built their own qualified bolts. Continental is part of few other Brands kit.

Interesting then Gary, so you would go gates but INA tensioner, Cosworth nutter like me see back in the day Gary. You still got the business? I bought many a part off you over the years Gary. Been away from the scene for 5 years now nearly.
