Interior lights

Hello, now I have a little spare time I want to start trying to get some things sorted on the car and the first thing on my list is the dash lights, they are not coming on with the headlights. I've had a look at the fuses but they seem to be ok. I believe the previous owner was changing out the interior lights for blue led ones and I'm not sure if he has maybe had the clocks out to do anything with them. Any help here is much appreciated.

When you say the dash lights do you mean the speedo/binnacle?
Its unlikely all have failed but they do have to be twisted into the correct position to work.
Part number for them is 3009344 if you need it.
Might seem a silly question but you do have the dimmer turned up also?

I got the bulbs delivered today and they are too small. I didn't explain myself properly when I described the problem my bad. When I switch the ignition on the lights come on and go off as they should on the binnacle, it's when I switch on the headlights that the speedo doesn't light up, I did pull out the speedo last weekend and removed the bulbs I think there was 3 of them for lighting up the binnacle. I would go in by my local Ford dealer but the closest one now is 35 miles away 😭 I'll have a search and see if I can find the correct bulbs but thanks for your help it's appreciated 👍

Yes it's the speedo and the lights for the heater control don't work either. I've been playing with that dimmer and I have nothing at all on the dash.

The little bulbs are quite fragile, maybe they were damaged when removing/refitting. Its a 2 minute job to remove the speedo so well worth checking the back where they are fitted.

Maybe it is better to use a volt meter, first check if you get 12V at the plugs, should be very unlucky to have all broken bulbs or all leds fitted the wrong way round

I'm useless when it comes to using volt meters honestly 😪 I've ordered a new headlight switch see if that makes a difference, the previous owner had changed a few bulbs on the inside of the car to blue led so must have something to do with that

Got it figured out today 😁 led lights were put into the heater controls and that was preventing the dash lights from working

I've ordered a new headlight switch and aircon buttons as they have the blue led lights in them to so once they arrive all should be back to normal. Also need another 2 bulbs for the heater controls

I have a set of the aircon buttons somewhere if you want them, have you ordered new ones?

Thanks, will update when I get time to get back to the car. Do you have any steering wheels for exchange or would I need to take the one of my car?
