  • Turbo support bracket

Is there a better solution for the turbo support bracket?
I've seen a lot that are broken, and all in the same place.
I noticed today that mine is damaged now too so i'm looking to repair/replace it.
I see that DPC produce one but is it just a copy of the standard item?

Mine was broken too and when I put the new turbo on I made a new one in stainless steel but used a bit thicker metal.
So far, so good after 15k miles .

I don't have any pictures, the car is currently stored and far from easy to make pictures.

I bought a secondhand one that had a very small crack in it and had one of the guys at work clean it up and weld it up but whilst he was at it he thought he would add a bit of extra strength to stop the bracket moving about and cracking in the same place. I've not yet fitted it yet but hopefully it works. You can see the extra bit that's been added in the picture.

Is that heatshield standard on this bracket? As cannot remember seeing that on mine

I think so as the one in the picture is a second hand one I bought under the impression it was a genuine ford part and it was just the added bracing that was added on by someone I work with to hopefully stop it cracking again. Dan's dpc one below has the heat shield on it too so unless dpc added it and mine is a dpc part not a ford item then I would guess the heat shield is standard.

It bolts between the turbo and the engine block. To take the weight of the turbo off the manifold.

Just to add to this, i ended up buying the DPC one.
It wasnt cheap but my original looked like it had 2 hairline cracks in it as well as the one that i had originally spotted.
This is the DPC one for anyone who is interested.
