Hi all.
New to the forum so was wondering if some of you can give me some buying advice on buying my 1st Mk1 Focus RS?
This week I've been to look at one that's only around the corner from me. I know the owner. He's my friends uncle.
Outside:
From 1st impressions of the car, it's filthy!. As far as I can see, few scrapes here and there on arches, bumpers, curbed wheels. I've looked underneath wheel arches, they seem to look okay (from what I can see) but the offside rear is slowly bubbling where it meets the side skirt.
Underside:
Engine:
Inside:
AND AGAIN!, FILTHY!, bottles, cigerette ends, ash, food, rubbish etc, it's not nice place to be. I managed to catch the build number 2987. Seats are worn but from what i can see not bad, just general W&T. It has the original RS mats. All dials seem to work, clock etc. Roof lining looked ok too. So desperate for a clean!!!
Service History/Paperwork:
On the log book it states he's been the only owner but on the website says last registered keeper was in 2015. Weird. The car was shipped from Ireland to Derbyshire where the owner now bought it from a Garage called Junction 28. From then on, it's been on a private plate FIA 939. Has stacks of paperwork with it but the service book hasn't been stamped since 2010. He says every year it's been to his cousins garage for a service and an MOT. From what he's shown me, I can see some of the service invoices but not dating back to when he's owned it. I've contacted the garage that does the servicing and they said they'll do the best they can to stamp the booklet up.
My thoughts:
All cars I've owned and wanting to keep for a long time always had full service history. With this RS (at the moment) it only has part service history and it's making me doubt buying it? This is where I hope some of you passionate gentlemen can reply with your thoughts and tell me to jump on it or leg it.
He's asking £12k for the car as it is. I haven't made any offers to him as I said I'll speak to the RS specialist and put a post up on the forums.
So, from what you've read, will the part service history bother you and would you buy or not buy it?
This car is for long term investment and would be sitting inside a carcoon inside my dry garage for many years down the line.
Thanks for reading.
James.

Poked my head underneath, not too bad from what i can see. In my town (Southampton) there's a local RS specialist that's offered to take a look on the ramp and see what's what.
Engine:
AGAIN, filthy under the bonnet.
Engine start up seems normal, no knocks or leaks. It's covered 78000 miles so below average which is good. Hoses seem to be all intact and not split. It had a water pump replacement back 2015. Inside:
