  • Info on SR03 FGK / SR03FGK

    Hi.
I'm wondering if anyone owned or knows anything about the history of this car? It's up for sale fairly close to me at a dealership and I'm probably going to take a look, just trying to find out as much as I can before I go.
    Many thanks.
    Wayne.

Your best option at first will be to ask for the build number and that way it can be checked on the main build list by Clayton.

I only say this because, having looked at the MOT history online, it looks like it was previously on a private plate circa 2011 (failure due to spacing - so quite likely on a plate spaced to read someone's name or to spell something "RS" related) and may have been on other plates previously.

Based on the MOT history it also looks like it's been off the road for at least 3 years based on the last MOT in 2016 and the next one earlier this year.

If you do go & have a look, give it a good poke for rust as the list of advisories from earlier this year suggests a fair amount of corrosion on the subframes & brake pipes that's been dealt with purely by smearing grease as a cheap way of putting off having to deal with it.

Previous failure for emissions warning light suggests that it's possible it's previously been modified & running either a decat or sports cat without a supporting engine map.

I've just zoomed in on one of the photos and it looks like it's #2462. I was a bit suspicious of the greased up brake pipes etc. I'll definitely have a good poke around for rust, I'd rather have a high miler than a rotten one. Thanks for the advice

There appears to be a mileage discrepancy on the MOTs
ie: Jan 2008 the mileage is 36021
        June 2009 it's gone down to 35889

Yeah I noticed that, bit strange. Surely if your going to clock a car, you wouldn't go further back than it's last recorded mileage?

The tester probably hit the 6 key instead of the 5 in 2008. Easily done and probably didnt even notice.

Yeah it could be as innocent as that. I'm still going to drive over and have a look tomorrow. What's the main things to look for on these cars? Is it mainly rusty sills and arches?

Rusty sills and arches is a common one yes, doors below the mirror baseplate and bootlids where the plastic rubs is fairly common as well.
Mechanically if its got a good service history then theres not much more to worry about over any normal car, worth making sure the chargecooler system is working correctly and that the reservoir is not empty if the system is still fitted. Coolant leaks from a split header tank or warped thermostat housing can be a problem now also.
