Start problem

Lads, my MK1 RS isn't doing well lately. I think i need to replace the ICV valve, it stalls regularly when entering a traffic light.
Several years ago i had this problem also, replaced ICV and all was fine. But now after it stalls when i stop before a traffic light it is difficult to start the engine again. Starter motor is ok. Engine isn't coming up, takes some time before it starts.
Could it be the battery?

I would check for air leaks on the hoses/pipes , check to see if the blanking plug is present on the inlet .
Have you had the battery disconnected ?

Could be the alternator, mine was doing that. Check that it's charging.
