Not sure if you'll be able to help, but I'm compiling a buying guide for the Focus RS Mk1. I first wrote one a number of years back for Fast Ford so have quite a bit of info already on weaknesses, such as the seat bases etc, however things have obviously changed since then. Prices have gone down, but are now rising, and age/hard use has certainly affected some examples. I think the main issues these days looks to be parts availability and the onset of rust, especially in the sills/rear quarters? Are there any key issues that have come to light in recent years that should be considered when buying one?
Funnily enough, my only experience of driving the Focus RS Mk1 was on the UK press launch in Cumbria and when I had one off the press fleet a couple of months later. The first thing the Ford PR said to us on arrival was that the police know we are in the area... I think I sold the gift of the fleece and metal handbook/image slide case a couple of years back now, possibly to a member on here. Found it quite amusing when some of the journalists spoke about the torque steer. They'd obviously never driven a tuned RS Turbo...
