What are people using to monitor vital signs? I would like to monitor boost, water temp and oil pressure. Scan gauge worth while? Mounting options ? What to keep a standard look as much as possible. Currently have a 52mm gauge mounted in the little triangle section at the left of the instrument cluster.

I think a scangauge is well worth buying as it can monitor a number of different things like air intake temperatures which would let you know if your chargecooler pump fails as mine did and the scangauge saved me doing any damage to the engine, water temperatures, battery voltage etc. I mounted mine in the right hand side corner of the dashboard mounted with velcro on double-sided tape so I can removed it if I need to.You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Think you're going to struggle a bit trying to keep the standard look with wanting to know all that. Scangauge is definitely worth doing without a doubt. Have seen people mount them above the rearview mirror if that takes your fancy? No chopping or anything required and i bet most wouldnt look up there when looking at the interior. You may be able to lose a vent or 2 as gauges, otherwise it can require modifications to dash panels or using a pillar pods which will look even less standard.

If a Scangauge can monitor water temp and boost then I can just run an oil temp gauge in place of my current 52mm gauge, then just mount the Scangauge somewhere discreet. It it a case of just plug and play?

The scangauge takes the water temperature from the cylinder head so it will read a bit higher than your current temperature gauge so don't worry about that. Yes the scangauge just plugs into the obd port so it's a plug and play gauge which also doubles up as a fault code reader. Some people have made an air vent pod to mount the scangauge in.

Looks good but I wouldn't want to loose the original radio. As I already have the 52mm gauge pod like the picture below I may go with the same Spa design split digi gauge and monitor oil pressure and water temp? Shame they don't still do a blue.
