  • Potential upgrades

    Morning,
looking for advise form owners who have fitted the following. I know advise is subject to opinion/driving style etc. I'm looking at fitting coilovers and Ap 4 or 6 pots in the spring. I'll be using the car for around 3 or 4 track days a year. Sunday blasts to wales and as many shows and meets I can get to. So looking for a fast road set up that can handle itself out on track but not and out and out track car. I'm yet to take the car on track so may be premature in wanting to upgrade what I already have. However I'm booked on for Donnington in April. Current spec is standard shacks with HR lowering springs. Poly bushed up front. Standard callipers and discs with DS2500 pads.
looking for owners opinions who have upgraded. Was is with it? Is there anything else I should be considering. Car is running 380bhp for reference.

    Cheers Adam

If your going to upgrade anything do the brakes before the coilovers. The standard brakes are good but from my experience you can't use them hard all the time on track and after a few laps you will get brake fade.

Ap6 pots would be my preference with AP discs.

Drop me a message when you're ready for brakes. Martin Hadland is a friend and I can sometimes get a discount. Go for AP 6 pots and the biggest rotors you can fit. Upgrade the flexi hoses too.
as for suspension, KW coil overs are great out of the box. V3's are a good road/track compromise.
If you don't want coil overs speak to Chris S1 and he can get you some bilstein dampers sorted.

I also have a contact for Btcc used rotors and pads. I've got them on mine with BTCC 6 pots. They are without a doubt the best brakes I've ever had. I've still got to fit the rears

As been said before here, brakes first.

I had standard calipers with grooved discs (Tarox on front and rear), Carbon Lorraine (RC6) pads on front, DS2500 at rear.
Braided brake hoses and Motul RBF 660 oil.
The front calipers got so hot that the silver paint discolored and the seals went ! But there was no fading.

My front discs torned and had them replaced with Alcon Puma JWRC front calipers (4 pot) and 355mm discs, again with RC6 pads.
First track-day will be end March at Spa-Francorchamps, lets see how it goes.

Hi Bart I did many laps of Donington and a few at spa in the car that previously had those brakes. I know for a fact you'll be fine.
