The advert makes it sound impressive. Go and take a look. If it's had a bare metal paint you would hope there would be no rust worries. If I was after one I'd take a look, but alarm bells would sound as to why search so long, spend so much then sell. I'm just cautious though

I'm not far from Lichfield if you need someone to look over it. I'm slightly busy until 28th though

                    Hi guys,

Just to clear a few things up the car belongs to me.

My Rs is in outstanding condition both mechanically and aesthetically, with the condition of the paint and exterior in general ie plastics, wheels badges etc is 2nd to none. To describe a car as impeccable as I did is a bold statement, but I'm 100% confident the car is as good as it gets. Everything on the car that came off was binned and went back on brand new and OEM as described. If you're going to doing something as big as a full restoration it has to be done right and with genuine parts. I've put way over £10k into the car to make it one of the very best Mk1 Focus Rs's left. As for corrosion there obviously isn't any, although prior to the resto there were 2 tiny blisters on the front a n/s wing and rear arch. Underneath the car is just as solid, to my knowledge it's never seen a welders torch and according to the MOT history It suggests the same. During it's first service under my ownership I had it checked at Matt Lewis Motorsport and Matt himself reported back the car is solid and untouched underneath.

My sole reason for sale was a friend of mine was selling his car ( a car I wanted to own for years) and I needed the money from the Rs to put towards it as I was offered 1st refusal as he always promised. However that car was sold on Saturday and the advert for my Rs was withdrawn from eBay yesterday. To be honest I'm glad as I was absolutely giving my car away at the price listed as I had to factor in a quick sale and the time of year. The amount of time wasters eBay generates is ridiculous. I had offers of £7500 and a straight swap with a E46 330i clubsport worth about £4500 !! Although money is money I'm actually glad it didn't sell to someone off eBay as I fear the car would've been either flipped for a quick profit or ruined within 12 months judging by the type of enquires I was receiving.

Anyway guys, I wanted to clear this up as I know what forums can be like with Chinese whispers. I can assure you everything I've stated above is true and nobody has been to see the car during the listing period so anything written would be pure speculation.

With regards this my first real post on the forum, I felt I had to reply seeing my car being discussed. I was randomly browsing the forum as I do most Mondays when I'm in the office and seen the thread title... I thought Is that my car being discussed? I'm not very active on this or any other forums nor do I attend car shows in the Rs so it's highly unlikely to have ever been seen out and it wont have been seen at a car shows or event. The car gets driven on selected days (weather permitting) during the Spring/Summer and with that I've covered less than 1000 miles in the 2 1/2 years I've owned it.

I built the car for personal pleasure with the car being my absolute obsession and passion - It wants for nothing !! I'm 41 and I've worked in the automotive industry for 20 years fitting telematics and tracking devices so my knowledge of cars in general from Focus's to Ferrari's is pretty good. So when I describe or elaborate on anything car related it's not 2nd guessing or taking nonsense.

I may be looking to invest in an Escort Cosworth next year (I'm still undecided & finances permitting) so my Rs could reappear in the classifieds at some point if I do. Alternatively I might get the underside fully restored to match the exterior, so with that this post and introduction of myself may come in helpful.

So on that note guys have a great Christmas and New Year.

                    Luke.

                      Hi Trackerman, (Luke)

Good to know the connection with the for sale advert being your car and great write up here, very interesting.

Have to say the advert also reads very well which is nice to see an owner/seller go to the trouble to take the time in writing so much detail. I recognise your forum name from also back in the days i was in connection with the RSOC as FRS Registrar. Just checked and cannot see your name logged with a build number. Would it be possible to know the build number of your car to link your history with the car please?

I personally think you would regret selling, was it an Escort Cosworth that your friend was selling that tempted you. I have known a few Mk1 Focus RS owners make the move to an Escort Cosworth but been disappointed and ended coming back to a Mk1. From all the work you have done to get your car to where you are happy would be a shame for you to sell and regret it.
