    Hi guys,

I ordered a new battery for the focus the other day, stupidly without looking at whats on it. I ordered the bosch S5 people recommend on here, but as it turns out thats too big for the tray on my car (its been moved to where the charge cooler was). The battery that was on there before was a bosch s4 001, but this doesnt come up when i search the reg on euro car parts website, and all the ones that do are bigger than my current one. Is the S4 001 up to the job or would i be better off getting bits i need to move it back to its original space and using the s5?

    Cheers,
    ash

I have a Bosch S4 004 on my car.......it must be at least 6 yrs old and always starts on the press of the button......Car is standard.
I would guess that the S4 you have already purchased will be fine for your car

The battery you had is 063 size which is correct for the relocation tray. The standard battery is bigger i think or at least most have had a bigger one fitted. But the smaller size does work fine assuming you buy a decent brand with a decent output. Obviously if you leave it sat a while it will go flat.

cheers guys, is it possible to make the S5 fit in the relocated tray? Dont mind drilling new holes in the tray if needed?

Easiest way is with a strap as above, although personally (and no offence meant at all) it just looks a bit 'unfinished' for me.
Im sure you could modify the tray to suit but i believe the existing holes have captive nuts on the underside?

That looks good to be fair, any details on that? I've got a black battery on mine but still looks a bit rubbish on show like they do on the relocation tray.

Ive got a battery box and lid might have a play around with it. It looks a lot better than my current setup.

I have seen some people use either the xr2 or rs turbo battery covers on the focus so at least the top of the battery is covered and looks better than having a strap over the top showing.

After doing a bit of searching I've found that the battery cover above will only fit over the 063 battery not the standard size battery. The picture below is the best I could find of one fitted to the focus.

Looks a bit like the one being used on the Escort Mk5 RS2000.

After searching I think the battery covers where also used on the mk5 and mk6 escorts so you are probably right

Think i'm going to see if i can get something to work with the orginal battery tray and lid, i would rather have the larger battery to be honest.
