Rear Brake Caliper Colour

Afternoon all,

I have nearly completed the rear end Restoration and after some help with the rear calipers. Were the original calipers done with yellow chrome matte
and know of any company that can restore them to their original spec.

I have attached a picture which I think nearly looked like new, but no longer available.

Look forward to any replies.

The original finish on the rear callipers was yellow zinc (gold), however it was not as gold as a lot of the bolts underneath the car/engine bay and often restoration companies and people restoring them do them to dark imo. They were a slightly lighter gold finish than this.

Clayton will probably have some good pictures you can use for reference, any zinc plater that offers gold should be able to do what you want - just depends on personal preference whether you want to colour match it like a concours car or whether any yellow zinc is close enough.
I took mine to Northampton and Midland plating I think it was, and went through a few different colours to get the finish I wanted.

I sent my Calipers off to a company called BIGG RED and they restored them to the original spec Zinc Gold. Defantly worth doing and very good price too.

Sorry for the wait on replying to this thread as I have been so ill but much better now.

Here is the best image I can find on my PC of the original caliper colour. As said it is a very light yellew passivated.

Bigg Red do an awesome job with restoring the calipers to look brand new but the finish is slightly darker than original.

The finish is called pasivated zinc.

Yep BIGG RED, had mine done with them, Excellent job too, i just wipe over now and then with WD40 sprayed on a cloth
