  • How Many Left?

Forgive me if this has been covered before in this Forum, but I have been trying to figure out how many FRS Mark 1's are still in existance, and how many of those are still standard.

For the UK, the DVLA figures record that 1900 cars were originally registered in the 2002-4 time period (interesting as apparently 2147 cars were supplied by Ford...what happened to the others? Poor data? Track cars/exports by owner?). As of Q4 16 DVLA records 1642 cars on its Data base, of which 46 % are SORN. So the attrition rate from 2004 has been about 21 cars per year ,on average using DVL figures. Not sure how that compares to Claytons database, as I have not looked to see if I can filter out non UK cars.
Also..how many of those 1642 cars are still standard, I wonder (Again Claytons data could help here I suspect)

For Europe, Ford data suggests that 2354 cars were originally supplied...if we apply the same sort of attrition rate to those cars as seen in the UK , then there should be about 2000 cars ,making about 3650 cars in total still left. Does that feel about right? (May be a bit optimistic for Europe, given harsher winters, different driving styles etc)

Any comments gratefully recd...some of you may have already done this analysis

Thats interesting...if my maths are right that means there are 353 RS1 left in Germany and Holland...I wonder how many originally went to those Countries?
If 2354 cars originally went to Europe (and most of those ,I would have thought, would have gone to Germany and Holland), then perhaps there are not as many left in Europe as I originally surmised......
Do we have any inputs from Spain or Switzerland, as it seems a good number went to those countries....

Quite a few sold in Switzerland. Remember quite well seeing loads of them in 2004 at a meet in Hoch Ybrig switzerland
Also know of some German cars that have migrated to Belgium, such as mine

          • #8
29 sold in Holland and 60 in Belgium for example.

Clayton got the list with numbers sold worldwide if i'm correct 🏼

No. I don't find the Suisse previous owner (1st). Was not registered on their website. Clayton had only the reg.-plate number.
Got my car from 2nd owner here in Germany (Berlin).
