I have been trying to find some new headlights for the focus and rung a number of ford dealerships and all of them say they out of stock. is there anywhere i can find new ones or are they going to be hard to find
I thought that may be the case, how easy are focus mk1 lights to split? i did have an idea to buy some new standard lights after market and buy another pair of frs headlights and swap the lenses
Yeah, was thinking the same.
Can't be that hard to remove the seal, swap lenses and re-seal?
I would buy a used headlight off the scrapyard and try/practice to see how it goes.
As I live in the Netherlands, my RS is LHD and already stocked a couple sets of new headlights
Been talking to another Mk1 FRS owner and he told me to put the units in the oven to soften the glue. 15minutes at 100 degrees and a sharp knife. Might have to put it twice in the oven as glue hardens before you're around.
I'm going to try this next week to paint the insides black.
Have done the oven thing a few times in the past, it does work only thing i would say is just keep an eye on them once they've been in a few minutes as any thin parts of the plastic (ie mounting tabs) will become very flexible when you take them out! Just gotta be careful.
