  • Mk1 RS Specialists in North West?

    Good morning everyone,

I don't know my build number yet, waiting for the car to be delivered this week. Sounds strange I know but I actually won the car in a Raffle on Friday night.

Always loved the MK1 but missed the boat when they were a lot cheaper.

Anyway the car I have won is currently registered as K200 FRS.

The car has circa 74k miles on it, has been resprayed and sills done last year.

I have so may questions but main ones to start off are as follows:

Are there any specialists in the North West - I am Warrington/Wigan area? (to get it looked over)

Is the steering wheel the same size etc as all other MK1 Focus?

I want the car reliable, I am hoping to get the plus, filters, Oil, coolant, brake fluid etc changed. Also Cambelt and maybe Water Pump if it looks old, Anything else I should be looking out for?

MOT history shows the car has sat around for the the last 5 years - I expects bushes might be dried out, suspension may not be great. Was thinking Powerflex and Gaz Gold Coilovers - any recommendations very welcome!?!?

It is listed as having the following:
    • Scangauge
    • Boost Controller
    • AET manifold
    • Roose Induction Kit
    • Roose Boost Hoses
    • Forge Actuator
    • Thicker Headgasket
    • Stainless Steel downpipe
    • AET Custom Remap – 300HP
Anything I should be concerned about in the above?

    Many thanks,

Congratulations on winning a Mk1 Focus RS from Dream Car Giveaways. Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when you got the call, bet you couldn't believe it and it must have been hard to take it in for hours.

Lovely example and is build number 4396. Out of interest were you passed on a model with the car? I arranged a bespoke Limited Edition 1:43 Focus RS model (with build number and number plates) for one of the previous owners in connection with the RSOC.

Enjoy your new car and hope you find the forum of great help. Look forward to seeing you at the shows when we are all safe to attend.

You haven't just been lucky winning the car, you really couldn't have fell much luckier to be close to one of the best places in the country to have your car looked over and any work taken care of.

Demon Performance Centre (DPC) is located approximately 30 minutes away (26 miles)

Highly regarded Pete the owner of DPC knows these cars like the back of his hand owning one himself, its being so connected with the car and working on them from 2005 that led to the making of DPC.

I can tell you it was a bit surreal, I was out walking the dog and got back and saw the missed call. I get a lot of those with work so I always Google the number and saw Dream Car Giveways!!! Phoned them back and left a message. Didn't sleep much on Friday night A few emails back and forth to arrange things since.

The car is hopefully going to be here end of the week so will find out about the Model, I hope it is there. I found the previous owner on Instagram so will ask him. He spent a chunk of money on the car in the short time he owned it, Paint, rust removal, new sills.

Dream Car Giveaways are having the Timing Belt changed today.

I was directed to Demon by a post on Pistonheads, I'll definitely be taking it down there for the once over and ask plenty of questions.....no doubt spend a few quid too

Congratulations! Parts are getting expensive on these now, one being the water pump but you can get it overhauled at SP pumps in Warrington!

Another common leak is the clutch master cylinder. Check if you have brake fluid running down the clutch pedal.
If you need to replace it it's just a Luk part and there all the same across all models so no RS tax necessary!!

Thanks Dan, spent a while gong through the paperwork with the car on Sunday. Appears the Clutch Cylinder was rebuilt a few years ago.

So, unfortunately my car hasn't been used this year and I'm of the opinion it's a waste.

I have a Megane Track Car that I use and I really want an E46 M3 (I have seen one I'd really like) so I'm testing the water to see if anybody knows anybody looking for a car?
