  • My Mk1 RS Foucs / Replica / Reshell

    Hi there.

Not too sure how well this will go down but I am the recent purchaser of a Mk1 RS Replica/Reshell which I believe from the history and paperwork I've got has been reshelled from car number 2314. I have recently removed the plate from it which has been on there for some time which was RS51 BOY back to the supposed original plate EN03WVS.

Sorry about the quality of the photos that's my son on his 1st day of school.

Because of the history of the car I would love to know more about car No2314 and if anyone here was he previous owner or knows something more about it. From what I can see since owning this is that the shell is a genuine RS shell and has always been imperial blue? So I am a little phased with the 1.6 elle log. It even has the I.D badge. Recent Rolling road print out as well of 354BHP.

I've got a lot of jobs to do to get this back in tip top condition but looking forward to it.

I hope I can still be accepted on here and any help or support is greatly appreciated guys thank you.

Photo below is the steering wheel which I recently refurbished myself.

Hi mate, welcome to this club and congratulations with your purchase. Looks like good example.
VIN number would help you to confirm what shell it has been, could also reveal what build number was with the shell if registered on the build list.

Clayton will be a great help here i guess

        Welcome buddy.
from the pics you have put up it looks like it could be a genuine shell to me as it has the extra strengthening plates on the front shocker tops.

Welcome to the club and forum mousfield, you are more than welcome here.

I would like to help with this car where I can as I would also like to know more about it for the build list.

I have some information that I saved back in 2011 when the car was advertised for sale. If you have not seen this you will find it an interesting read.........

For sale on pistonheads.co.uk on 20th April 2011:

          Advert details:

This is my stunning RS Focus Gen 11 Replica every nut/bolt has been changed to the Focus RS version it also had a full bare metal respray in the original imperial blue by the previous owner (52yr old ford engineer) who was very detailed in his full conversion the list is endless the cost is £1000s but the insurance is pennies as is the road tax.

As to date there is not another fully converted Focus RS anywhere as the cost of the coversion exceeds the real thing.

This car is very raw in terms of power in the region of 285bhp @ 19psi pulls like a train 0-60 is a recorded 4.9 secs ....! This is on the least powerful setting on the Dreamscience remap - runs approx 315bhp on its highest setting !!

This is the best replica car I've seen due to is 100% conversion, it started life as a 1.6 Focus Elle which is on the log book.

It has only covered 30k miles on the engine in total as a Duratec RS lump was sourced with only 16k from car no 2314 (with receipt) at a cost of £2700 !! It has covered only 14k miles since the last 4 years and only 3k miles in the last year !! The shell only has 65k miles on it itself.I am selling this and my VW Golf R32 replica to fund the purchase of an Audi RS4.

It has a new MOT and tax till 30/06/2011, has a splitter added and recently had the front and rear bumpers resprayed.

The RS plate was added by myself and has been valued by the DVLA at between £800 - £1000 alone - it reads ' RS BOY ' or if you look closer.... ' ARSEY BOY ' !! :-) I am a mature 38yr old owner.... not a boy racer btw !!

This VIN and registration EN03WVS you have posted started its life as - Focus 1998-2005, 1.6L Zetec-S/Duratec EFI (100PS), Moondust Silver (Metallic)

I would love to know the original registration or vin for 2314 as this would fill the gaps on the build list. Could you please PM me the engine number as this would help.

Thank you for all your responses guys. I was a little worried being a "replica" that I would be shunned. All help and feedback is greatly appreciated.

nowt wrong with a replica, as long as it isn't being hidden and trying to present it as the real deal, looks a nice car anyway and if done as the add says it is all that a real RS is, only not the VIN nr, you being honest about is top, so think most people here won't mind and will be helpful where they can if needed advice or help.

Much appreciated mrsimmers. It needs a fair bit to get it fully up together but I've been busy since getting it it just over a month ago.

Waiting to get it back from the garage as had a new front bearing fitted and the garage didn't do the hub nut up properly causing damage to the flange!! So have got a replacement on order from Chris at the Ford Centre who has been really helpful for a few parts.

Water pump is next. Got a new housing and going to send it and my old pump and housing to SPH for a full rebuild.

Waiting for front arms to come back from powder coaters to commence fitting poly bush kit I've just purchased.

                      Gonna be a journey. 😏

                        Nice car mate.

Also interesting history, for instance someone mentioned it had the strengthening plates, which would show a real level of dedication from the builder.

I presume you have checked the VIN plate on the floor to check if it all matches? Incase it was a reshell into a genuine Focus RS shell, you never know a cars history until you research it yourself really as people do love Chinese whispers.

Clayton has helped me check all the shell I.D's and all seems clear and correct. However just trying to establish the origin of the engine at the moment.
