  • New member- just bought my car back!

Hi all, thanks for having me!
just bought my RS back having regrettably sold it to a friend 10years ago. I bought it new in Feb 03 and it's still totally standard. I need to do some minor cosmetic repairs like refurbish steering wheel and rear Calipers but other than that it's sweet.

Welcome Mark, must be great to buy your car back!

How lucky as we're currently running a rear caliper resto groupbuy and also steering wheels are available in any desired finish.
Sign up as a full club member as the discounts of these are more than a couple years of membership .

P.S What buildnumber is your car?

Hello and welcome Mark 👋. As Bart has said above if you become a full member of the club then there is a deal on caliper and steering wheel refurbishments so you would save more than the cost of membership as one of the advantages of being a full member.

Welcome Mark to the forum and nice to hear you had owned this very same car from new. As asked by Bart, I'm also intrigued to know what build number she is?

                Hi guys it no 1189

to give a bit more detail as to condition it's been well looked after but after 17years it understandably needs a good external detailing valet, will also repaint the wheels to get rid of some minor kerbing. It also wants a couple of external trims replacing (I'm being a bit fussy here) like the 2 that run along the roof seams and outer drop glass seal on passenger side.
I'm not going to do much for the mo as can't afford to as I wasn't planning on buying it but just had to when it was offered back to me!
question for you guys re the steering wheel, I'm tempted to keep it as although it's a bit discoloured it could probably just be cleaned and maybe recoloured so as not to lose the original patina?
I could also get a ST170 wheel retrimmed (assuming they are the same which I think they are) and then keep my original for the future?

1189 is a missing number on the buildlist, surely Clayton will contact you for info.
Nothing wrong being fussy! Depends on the condition of your steering wheel but normally the blue colour wears off so no point having it cleaned.
The steering wheel resto here is spot on and a brilliant finish, just like a new wheel.
The rubber trims (weather strips) along the windows are available from Ford but the finish is not as nice as they used to be. There's a thread on here regarding the weather strips, you will find it easily using the ‘search' option.

By the way, how do I become a full member, I though that's what I actually signed up for but the website never asked for payment for some reason...

Bart has covered all the bases there haha! But sounds like a good one and i'm sure Clayton will be excited to hear its a missing car. I can vouch for the quality of the steering wheel refurbishment service through the club, as i had mine done. Very nice work i would recommend to anyone.
