Hi all! I joined here just over 3 years ago, as I was planning on buying myself a Focus RS. Well, the wife got involved and I ended up buying an E46 M3 instead.... lol

I’ve (hopefully) got my M3 sold, so I’ve started keeping an eye out for a Focus.

I’ve noticed a few Mk1s going through BCA over the past few weeks—surely buying one at auction would be a complete lottery?

Well, todays auction car made £13,900 - I really should have took a chance and bought it....

I am surprised these cars are making it to Auction, I thought they'd be much more sought-after to even get near BCA!

Anyways, after friday, I'll have a more defined budget to go looking for an RS!!

I had full access back when I first joined, but it since lapsed obviously. Funny, I tried to renew a few weeks back when I came across the first BCA car, but couldnt find any obvious way to do it!

I have a decent car lined up over this side of the water for after the M3, but part of me still loves the idea of a bit of a project to tackle (sick, I know - lol)

Yes, it was. It looked decent. Needed a few odds and ends tidied up inside, but nothing awful.

CX03WRE sold last week too.

From what I could see, both cars had been off the radar for a good few years

I know of 2666, its been local to me and i know the long term owner.
What is interesting is that WBAC gave him more than it sold for if it was £13900

As the Registrar, I’ve followed these cars for over 23 years and hold a lot of historical information. However, I can only share detailed or sensitive history with full club members. as discussing a car’s background, especially anything negative, needs to be done within that trusted membership.

I have one lined up to go and view (hopefully this week). It's been offered to me by a friend and although it's going to be a stretch financially, I think I'd be insane to miss it... I'll keep you all posted!

Ok. So, I went to view the car I had in mind yesterday afternoon.

It's pretty-much an unrestored 32k mile low owner car, that's been off the road (indoors) for a good few years & probably looks a bit 'barn-find' currently. It deserves a bit of love.

The car is off a cylinder, it probably needs a good service and a set of plugs & leads. It needs a steering wheel retrim. Underside looks decent, all though unrestored. A small bit of paint has flaked off one of the rear arches, but the metal feels solid & complete, with no bubbling. I think it would benefit from painting the two rear arches, maybe the skirts and probably the front bumper due to a slight bit of road rash. It needs a damn good clean from head to toe. It has the 00's black lenses which i would swap back to original, & a set of Morettes that I quite like (the original headlights come with the car). It's meant to have a Bluefin too.

The car comes with the mats & wallet etc, but the thing I am undecided on, is something that could be seen as both a positive and a negative... It has had a pretty impressive Focal Audio install & boot build. I like my Audio and it's exactly the kind of thing I'd have aspired to have had in my cars 20 years ago. It's really well done & looks like it's been expensive. But does it detract from originality too much? I can't decide....

I would be stretching my budget to even buy the car, and having seen it, I'd probably need to budget a further £2000 for minor reconditioning. The blue alcantara on the radio surround panel would definitely have to go too.

But, it's still well priced & I'm still really tempted... Am I mad?

Sounds like a good example that just needs some loving Kev, bring the car back to its former glory. Good it has the original headlights with the car as they are difficult to find now, near on impossible.

Nice low mileage car for sure and good to hear the underside is decent, seen some very low mileage cars that have been terrible underneath. As with the audio, have the door cards, A pillars been cut/drilled, if not you could revert it back to original?
