Can anyone recommend somewhere to have the front calipers refurbished, I have a spare set to send.

    Thanks Matt

I believe the club have a discount code available for Bigg Red. I did my own front ones before they offered that service but they made a nice job of my rear calipers.

Bigg Red are excellent. I have used them a few times in the past for cossie caliper refurbs, always been top notch. Do the club offer a discount as I am hoping mine are going to be done soon.

I beg to differ about Bigg Red.
Made an absolute mess of my front calipers.
I had to demand my money back.

We have arranged numerous caliper refurbishments with Bigg Red in the past. Their communication and workmanship have consistently been excellent, and they have earned a strong reputation for quality.

However, as Garry mentioned, he was recently let down with the refurbishment of his front calipers. We also heard of another owner experiencing a similar issue. When the calipers were returned, the finish was poor - heavily pitted, and well below the expected standard. It appears there may have been a change in their stripping process that led to the rough finish.

Fortunately, Garry received a full refund without any issues and was able to have the calipers refinished at a friend’s body shop. They look as they should, new.

At this stage, it's unclear whether Bigg Red has addressed the problem with their refurbishment process.

Oh that is very interesting to hear. Not good for owners though obviously.

Well shocked at that Garry. I had at least 4 sets done with them in the past, always been top quality. Clayton has explained the reasons above. I wonder if this has now been changed with their stripping process?

I don't know Lee to be honest.
I have no interest in finding out.
                Internals i can do myself.
Then i would take the calipers to a paint shop for a paint refurbishment.

I will message Bigg Red to ask James if they have sorted their stripping problem. A real shame if not. The finish looked more like the rear calipers.

Update for you. I have just spoken to James at Bigg Red, they are no longer refurbishing calipers anymore, they are now only concentrating on the parts side of this.
Leaves me totally stuck now as mine were going to be sent off to them on Monday. I am very disappointed now.

                  Thanks. Lee.

Ok Clayton. I look forward to your reply. If not my mate will strip and referb with new pistons/seals etc instead.

I spoke with Bigg Red this afternoon and had a conversation with James, who has been my main point of contact there. He explained that they have discontinued their caliper refurbishment service due to recent staffing changes.

Caliper refurbishment only accounted for around 25% of their business, so they’ve decided to focus their efforts on other areas of the company.

However, James mentioned that if we need pistons, seals, or any other parts for restorations, they would be happy to offer our club members a generous discount.
