  • Running issue

    Hi all.

Got a little running issue with the Focus.

At low speeds going through towns on light throttle the engine seams to judder, kind of up and down in speed.
It's always done it but since the limit has been dropped locally to 20mph it doesn't like it.
It's fine when you nail it and at higher speeds.
    Any ideas ?

It's unlikely, but I'd first start with the cheap stuff like plugs, leads and fuel filter, just to rule them out.
Theres a pipe at the back of the inlet manifold that often fails over time, its got a white gromit in it if I recall correctly its only small, check it over for splits etc, just generally go over all your pipework to see if anythings a miss and maybe give your maf sensor a clean whilst your at it?
Simple stuff that can't really hurt I'd have thought, unlikely as I say but stranger things have happened!
    Good luck getting it sorted.

      Cheers for the reply 👍

Yeah was going to give it a check over, done plugs leads and changed the coil pack last year.
it sort of feels like a possible air leak, are map sensors ever much of a problem on the Focus ?
will keep you posted if I find the problem

No worries, sorry only just logged in again, no normally they are fine but stranger things have happened, remove the inlet manifold pipe and give that a good going over.
Fingers crossed whatever it is its a simple fix!

I had this on my 170 when the throttle body gasket was split / leaking
