  • Sabre Map

Booked in for a Sabre Map at the end of May (more than likely will now be postponed) for those of you have had them map your car did you also go with one of their large MAF sensors and 3D boost control? Are they needed? I was reading an old Fast Ford article that had some information on them both. I want to get the most out of the cars current set up with a key focus on drivability on the road and responsiveness.

What power are you after and what spec is the car? I had mine mapped by them, 345bhp/348ft/lb @20psi. I dont have big maf or 3d boost control and at that power i dont see much benefit. Its very smooth and driveable as is.

After speaking with Leighton it should be between 350 and 370bhp as that's the limit for my stage 1 hybrid.

Yes mines stg1 hybrid but i was on standard clutch when it was mapped, everything else fitted could take way more than what it is at currently, i have since fitted a different clutch but it drives so well at that power level, i dont really feel like i want them to up it any more.

        What power is yours currently?

Not 100%, DPC put there stage 4 (“380”bhp) revo software on it when they fitted the 630 injectors and DW fuel pump.

Fair enough, i cant speak for DPC map as i've not driven one with it, although they do get good reviews from a lot of owners, i myself much prefer a proper live map tailored to the car though, which was the main reason i went to Sabre. When we are past the covid thing i think ill be heading back up for a "health check".
Do you not get on with your DPC map?

The car drives fine but I'm like you, I've always had previous cars live mapped. Don't like the idea of a generic map. I know the revo maps are popular across many brands but it's not for me. The DPC stage 4 tune was done by the previous owner.

I would go with what Leighton suggests..

Had mine mapped at Sabre last year, 350bhp.. no 3d and drives well.

                You'll love it.

Hi. Had mine mapped at Demon Performance and was definitely live mapped.
Done to stage 4+. Pulls really well all through the rev range.
                  Very knowledgeable and excellent service
                  Highly recommended

He dose a generic revo map with a few tweeks to make the most from the m your spec not a live map.

Had mine to Paul & Leighton, for their stage 4 setup way back in 2012. With their live map, my car runs at 438bhp & 379 Torque @ 26psi.
I had their bigger MAF conversion, but as I had a Blitz Boost Controller anyway, I didn't need their controller.

Just make sure your spark plugs can cope with the higher heat, that the engine is going to generate, and if the clutch is good, then all should be well. It's the bigger Torque that kills the clutch not the horsepower.

The guys did a fab job with the map, made 362 Bhp and 344 lbft of torque @25psi. Advised I didn't need the big MAF or boost controller at this level.

I've got to say the car drives so much better than the previous direct setup it was running. Well worth the money and trip down.
