Would highly recommend a Carcoon, had mine years and wouldn't be without it now.
The makers of the Carcoon have two options now, the standard Carcoon which inflates and is frameless, the second option is fairly new called the Veloce which is set up with a frame which means you can drive the car in and out.
I have the inflatable Carcoon which takes up less space and ideal if you don't want the car Carcooned all year round. The framed type is ideal if you have the room and want your car inside all year round?
I would recommend if using the inflatable Carcoon to have a car cover as you have to lay the top section of the Carcoon over the car to attach it to the floor section. Both are attached with zips so the car cover protects your paint.

As above get a Classic Additions fleece lined custom cover, and a Carcoon.
Connect it to a trickle charger (part of the Carcoon) and pump the tyres up if you don't have tyre protectors that you drive onto.
If possible crank the engine by hand once a year to keep her lubricated or start her up and run to full temp once a year.
Also places like Need2insure do laid up policies that are very cheap, so if you aren't going to move it that might save money..

Bumping this thread up I'm looking to buy a carcoon for a standard size single garage what would the size be? And what's the best to go for? I haven't had the chance to measure the garage will try and some point this week.
The car will be staying in it until the good weather comes round.

Anyone looking for the original Evo Carcoon (Bubble type) and not the framed type will be told it's the size 4 you need. This size has always been recommended and the size I ordered years ago.
When I got it I set it up and was disappointed it actually was too long and filled the space I had and was lots of spare room at the front and rear of the car. I contacted Carcoon to explain to them that I felt it was too long for the Focus RS. I studied it with the Focus RS inside and decided how much smaller I wanted it and gave them the size and had a tailor one made.
I have just looked on their website and these are the sizes available.
Size Guide:Size 2 Carcoon Dimensions: 320cm x 150cm x 169cm Size 3 Carcoon (regular) Dimensions: 425cm x 160cm x 169cm Size 3 Carcoon (large) Dimensions: 425cm x 200cm x 169cm Size 4 Carcoon Dimensions: 470cm x 200cm x 169cm Size 5 Carcoon Dimensions: 505cm x 200cm x 169cm Size 6 Carcoon Dimensions: 560cm x 200cm x 169cm Size 7 Carcoon Dimensions: 610cm x 200cm x 169cm Size 8 Carcoon Dimensions: 670cm x 200cm x 169cm
When I ordered mine years ago the size 3 (large) was not available and think this may have been introduced from making mine, remeember them telling me mine a=was line a size 3.5 when they made it.
The Mk1 Focus RS is 4183mm in length. When the bubble inflates it bulges out so gives more room. I can measure my base mat to the folds if it helps?

There's another option of a dancover shelter. If your car is outside its a lot more robust than a carcoon. My carcoon collapsed every time it snowed, still protected it but it lost its shape. It also got smashed about by the wind. My new dancover shelter is rock solid steel frame with a waterproof tarpaulin stretched over it. Still gives complete protection and mine is wrapped up in its storm force cover too on the inside
