Scuttle and Pollen Filter housing - advice required

Well I ordered a new pollen filter so before it comes I decided to get into the bulkhead and give it a clean out before it arrives and I can fit..........not pleasant under there and glad I did it as still on the original filter and 20 years worth of gunk!

After vacuuming all the visible gunk it didn't look bad until I removed the filter and housing.........

A lot more hidden behind the housing! Cleaned all this and gave the bulkhead a wipe out too..

The foam seal on the bottom of the housing has almost disintegrated - DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS STILL AVAILABLE OR CAN RECOMMEND AN ALTERNATIVE STICKY BACK FOAM TAPE?

Also the seal for the scuttle to window has at sometime previous been replaced with tiger seal or similar!

- DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS STILL AVAILABLE OR CAN RECOMMEND AN ALTERNATIVE STICKY BACK FOAM TAPE OR IS TIGER SEAL THE BEST OPTION?

Butyl tape would be my advice.

Lovely clean up operation, surprising what gets beneath there after all these years.

Ive just ordered some butyl tape so will see what thats like but if no good I'll order that - thanks for the link

Ordered a new pollen filter housing seal plus some Butyl foam strip for the scuttle covers, removed all the old seal from under the bulkhead and gave the whole area a good clean,

Whilst waiting for seals to arrive I removed the wiper mechanism........what a **** that was

Cleaned and lubricated wiper mechanism and replaced

Lastly I cleaned up both scuttle covers, replaced all clips for new ones and replaced all the foam seals before refitting - quite pleased with the result

Looks way better! Pollen filters always get neglected.
Main dealer classic to avoid replacing awkward ones when in for a service.

Focus mk1 ain't too bad, mk2 needs throttle pedal removed overhere LHD, backbraking job but i never 'forget' to replace these filters

Looks superb Darren, clean and fresh now. yes pollen filter always get neglected at servicing times. it's a must, even better if you got working air con.
