Since I passed my test back in 1997 I bought an Escort RS turbo. Insurance wasn't cheap but ever since I heard a turbo and loved the shape I had to have it.. cost me a fortune, new Harvey Gibbs engine, full respay.. the usual

I then went travelling for a year.. came back skint. Had no choice to sell it and save for a deposit for a house. The car went, and I missed it. A Civic type R was purchased for every day use..

I lived in the house for 3 years and needed something fun.. an upgrade. The perfect choice was a focus and it had to be an RS.

1 year later the and I find out I'm going to be a dad. Our little 2 bedroom house wouldn't be adequate. Do I sell it ? Was very very close to putting an advert together..

Found a house, garage... scraped the money together. 4 years later and The RS is sitting in the garage with a trickle charger on. My 3 year old will only wear his Focus RS wooley hat so it's safe to say he will also be an RS nut lol.

When he see's the car he even calls it daddys RS..

Best thing I did was keep hold of it. Maybe one day it will be his, who knows.

    Sorry for the rambling lol

Great story westy, I wish my kids were into cars but simply not interested. Only good thing is I get some peace when I'm out in it

My daughter is more into cars than she is girly stuff so she likes to come to shows with me and I take her to a few motor racing events as well, also doesn't help when my brother gets her toy cars a lot

      Thanks Jgould ..

Count yourself lucky as it means you get some time to yourself! My little lad won't let me go out to garage.. only if he is allowed to sit in the drivers seat lol

can be a bit annoying sometimes lol. If it wasn't for my dad helping out with the deposit for a bigger house, I wouldn't have the RS still, so I owe a lot to him.

I have always been in to fords my brother had a ERST replica when I was 10 and that started me in to fords. To me the Mk1 Focus RS is the last RS of its generation as the Mk2 as nice the engine is in them they are heavy even more filled with sound deadening and too refined. The mk1 is raw

100% true the newer rs cars are more modern with too many refinements for the office man, where the mk1 is rally bread.

My uncle had a MK1 Mexico in Daytona yellow think I was about 7 then? I always remember him pulling out of a T junction proper sideways that's when it started!
First car was a Mk1 Escort with a 1600 x/flow, mex wings etc which was written off by a dumb Arse who hit me from the rear and pushed me into the car in front, mk1 rs2000, mk2 escorts Inc RS2000, Mexico's, mk1 and mk2 cortinas, then a 3 door cosworth for ten years, whilst I had that several s2 RS turbos one which was written off by a mate who borrowed it!! RS1800 fiesta, a racecar 3 door cosworth I then sold all my Ford stuff! Petrol was costing to much lol
Had a big thing with minis for a few years and now have several mk2 golfs, 1 mk2 16v that is pretty much restored and a 4wd mk2 golf being built with 1.8T GT28 Turbo aiming for 350-400hp then last year I bought the FRS off the guy that now owns my old 3 door and I've also bought a mk1 RS2000 that needs restoring this year I've definitely got ford running through my blood

Like a lot of others my Dad was Ford mad.

Had many fast fords once passing my test, one of my fav to this day was a nearly new mk5 imp blue fiesta zetec s, great car!

Once had enough money together had to get the car of my dreams at the time, the mk1 FRS. Was only 21 at the time and thought I was the bees knees!

Now 13 years on still enjoying and collecting RS' with my Dad. My 3yr boy is Ford crazy much to my wife's disappointment...one day I will pass on one of the RS' to him!

Always been cossie mad since i can remember, Had a saff cosworth a few year back which i loved but stupidly sold when we bought our current house and extended our family. Thought that was it as far as the RS badge went with the way prices were going. I looked at a mk1 frs 3 year ago but it wasnt for me so put it out of my head. Recently been saving alot when my focus came up in conversation 1 day (needing an engine) so went for a look and the deal was done.

Why did it need an engine? Blown or taken out

I had always been a Ford fan since the age of about 7-8 and my dad ended up slas service and body shop manager at Ford. I got to sit in Escort cossies in the show room. Had Malcom Wilson's Pilot Escos poster on my wall as a kid.

I got myself a Saph cos in 2006 and spent a fortune on it over the years. Had a 3 door at the same time and a Mk6 RS2000 as a daily. The whole time my best mate had a FRS which we both worked on each others cars.

I ended up selling my RS2000 and 3 door when I bought my house. I wanted a FRS at this point as the Saph was getting silly and I rarely used it so wanted something to go with it I would drive more.

Fast forward a few years and I decided to sell the Saph over the Focus when I couldn't run 3 cars anymore. I haven't missed the Saph once since I sold it and love the focus every time I get in it.
